Beyond the Beach: Your Active Vacation in the Region of the Novigrad Sea

Imagine you’re lying on the beach, listening to the waves crashing as they meet the shore.

Or swinging on a hammock tied between two trees in a pine forest, reading a book as the cicadas sing in the background.

Sipping on a fresh cup of coffee while watching the boats glide through the glistening sea.

Completing your day while watching sunsets from the terrace and eating Dalmatian delicacies.

Many would describe this as a perfect, relaxing vacation.

But are you the kind of person that would be bored out of your mind?

Do you need excitement and an adventure on your holiday?

A bit of an adrenaline rush to completely leave all your worries behind?

A thrill to feel alive?

We hear you.

Here are a couple of active vacation options if you decide to visit us in the Novigrad Sea, Croatia.

Go on a Bike Ride by the Sea

From mountain bike trails that will get your blood pumping to leisurely seaside paths perfect for a calming stroll, you can explore the area on your bike regardless of your style.

Start from one of the cycling routes around Posedarje, Jasenice, Novigrad, or Ražanac.

Forgot your bike at home? Rent a bike or e-bike to experience the seaside and mountain roads on two wheels.

Whitewater Rafting or Kayaking on Zrmanja

Zrmanja is one of the longest rivers in Croatia. Start rafting or paddle the kayak to get to know the 12 kilometres of its scenic beauty. Get a workout in while you explore the untouched nature of the Zrmanja Canyon.

All the equipment (kayaks and rafts included) will be provided for you.

Besides canoeing, rafting, and kayaking, many locals and tourists dive into the river. Don’t forget to bring a mask and snorkel to discover the underwater world of Zrmanja.

Paddle Boarding

The calm and clean Adriatic Sea is great for paddle surfing — regardless of your skill level.

Paddle boarding is the most fun with a group of friends. Bond with your friends and family while you explore the Novigrad Sea.

Want to start your stand-up paddle-boarding adventure?

Rent a SUP board and let the workout begin. Or bring your own.

Taking a Hike

For an unforgettable adventure during Croatia's warm season (June-September), consider a hike in Paklenica National Park. Explore dramatic canyons, lush forests, and awe-inspiring rock formations. Cap off your day with an overnight stay at a cozy mountain lodge, nestled amidst the park's natural beauty.

Or, if you’re more experienced, tame the steep cliffs of Mala Paklenica kanyon.

Get in touch with the Mountaineering Association of Paklenica in Zadar or NP Paklenica in Starigrad to get more information.

And remember to never go hiking alone.

Bungee Jumping

Whether you’re a thrill seeker or feel ready to conquer your fears, bungee jumping is the ultimate experience packed with adrenaline.

Free fall from the red Maslenica Bridge, one of the highest bungee jumping points in Croatia. The 56-metre drop is not for the faint of heart.

Professionals will buckle you up. All you have to do is take a leap of faith and jump.

Scenic Boat Excursions

Breathtaking landscapes. Panoramic views. Secluded beaches. 147 islands and reefs (mostly uninhabited) of the Kornati National Park are waiting to be explored. This and much more is why NP Kornati has been one of the top sights visited by tourists in Croatia every year.

Take a Kornati island tour or sail the archipelago privately, at your own pace. With private tours, there is more time for snorkelling and diving in the crystal clear Adriatic Sea.

Dive Headfirst Into Adventure in the Novigrad Sea

The area of the Novigrad Sea, Dalmatia is a perfect backdrop for a relaxing holiday. You can spend most of your days sunbathing on the beach, taking in the picturesque view.

But we get that lying on the beach is not everyone’s cup of tea.

For our thrill seekers, there are plenty of opportunities to turn this vacation into an adventure during which you can also actively explore the beautiful landscapes of the area.

Regardless of what floats your boat, we’d love to have you here.
